INTRODUCTION
HealthTech Reporter proudly introduces our new series called D.A.D.: Doctors About Doctors.  This is a special program presenting endorsements by physicians and other clinical professionals about luminaries in the field.  For current and active legacies (non-posthumous), the DAD project showcases the achievements of modality innovators, experienced specialists and top published educators in a specialized field in the form of an OP-ED, illustrating the significant merit of their work in their category of expertise while active in their respective professions.  DAD spotlights are often written by their students, colleagues or clinical/research partners who offer inside viewpoints on the reported expert.  Each special feature covers a legacy in development and an overview of that expert's work as recognized by his or her community.

A Pioneer in Biological Medicine and a Visionary Mentor
An Op-Ed by: Dr. Leslie Valle-Montoya

Op-ed on: DR. THOMAS RAU-
In the picturesque hills of Switzerland, nestled in the serene village of Schwellbrunn, stands the Sonnenberg Health Hotel, a beacon of healing and transformation under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Rau. For those familiar with the global evolution of integrative healthcare, his name is synonymous with Swiss Biological Medicine, a discipline that transcends conventional medical paradigms to address the root causes of disease. As a mentor and professor, Dr. Rau's teachings resonate deeply, shaping practitioners around the world to adopt a more holistic and effective approach to health.

A Revolutionary Approach to Healing
Dr. Rau’s approach to medicine is refreshingly simple yet profoundly transformative: focus on identifying and eliminating the root causes of illness rather than merely suppressing symptoms. At the heart of Biological Medicine lies a deep understanding of the body's natural capacity for self-regulation and repair. Through cutting-edge diagnostic tools like Darkfield Microscopy, innovative therapies like Bioenergetic Treatments, and a strong emphasis on the interplay between dental health and systemic disease, Dr. Rau has redefined what it means to heal.

Dr. Rau’s methods are not quick fixes but enduring solutions rooted in prevention, patient empowerment, and holistic care. His approach has given hope to thousands who had been told their conditions were untreatable.

The Sonnenberg Health Hotel: A Living Laboratory
The Sonnenberg Health Hotel is not just a wellness retreat; it is a living laboratory where Dr. Rau’s principles are brought to life. Patients and practitioners alike experience firsthand how Biological Medicine restores balance to the body, mind, and spirit. The center’s treatments are as much about the environment as the protocols themselves, with every detail designed to harmonize with nature.

Nestled amidst pristine landscapes, the hotel offers a tranquil setting for recovery. The air, water, and food provided to patients are as pure as the diagnostic precision and therapeutic innovation practiced within its walls. Personalized protocols, from IV nutrient infusions to tailored detoxification therapies, reflect Dr. Rau’s belief that no two patients are alike and that healing must be customized to individual needs.

The Mentorship of a Lifetime
As one of Dr. Rau’s mentees, I have been privileged to learn from a true visionary. His seminars are immersive, pushing participants to think critically about health, disease, and the role of the practitioner. In every session, he combines cutting-edge science with intuitive insights, fostering an environment where innovation meets empathy.

Dr. Rau has introduced me to transformative therapies like Papimi’s ion induction therapy, which uses low Tesla and high induction to stimulate cellular repair, and the critical role of addressing “silent dental infections” in chronic disease management. His teaching extends beyond technical expertise; he instills the values of precision, intuition, and compassion—hallmarks of what he calls “the art of medicine.”

Through his mentorship, I have come to see medicine as more than a profession; it is a calling to serve with integrity, creativity, and relentless curiosity.

On the Dark Field Microscopy
(Source: BioMedicine International)

DARK FIELD MICROSCOPY has been developed considerably in the last 10-15 years by Dr. Rau and his team and incorporates much pathophysiological information and orthomolecular assessments. The method provides information about dynamic processes of cell degeneration and the development of inflammatory and microbial processes in the organism, largely as the only easily practicable test. It is the simplest and most practical test to observe the pleomorphic processes in the blood and to show them to the patient. The test can be performed in any practice, provided that a dark field microscope is available.

Dr. Rau points out the dark field signs of "Silent Inflammation" and intestinal permeability ("Leaky Gut") and their significance for many diseases such as all microangiopathies and autoimmune processes, as well as the causes of pathological platelet aggregation.  No other test better shows the relationship between plasma, milieu, and cells.  The test also shows the development of "exosomes", which Enderlein had already described as "symprotites" and "endobionts"

DARKFIELDMICROSCOPY - LIVE BLOOD ANALYSIS
by Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Rau, November 2020
The examination of live blood, by dark-field microscopy, is used as an integral part in the assessment of the regulation capacity of the patient. Biological holistic medicine as practiced by Dr. Rau considers health deficits as a disruption in the dynamic regulation process and not as an isolated disruption within an organ of the body Dynamic processes such as total body metabolic processes, regulation processes and adaptability are the deciding criteria for the health of people. These processes and adaptability can be assessed well by examination of live blood using dark-field microscopy. (See complete article)

The Ripple Effect of Dr. Rau’s Vision
Dr. Rau’s influence extends far beyond Switzerland. His seminars and workshops have reached practitioners from all corners of the globe, with many returning home to implement Biological Medicine in their clinics. What sets his approach apart is its accessibility: the principles he teaches can be adapted to any practice setting, making profound healing achievable for patients who may have lost hope in conventional medicine.

Through his mentorship, Dr. Rau has instilled a simple yet revolutionary truth: True medicine addresses the whole person— including dental health, mind, body, and spirit. In an age where biohacking and quick fixes dominate the wellness landscape, his focus on preventative care, root-cause analysis, and nature-aligned healing feels like a return to what medicine was always meant to be.

A Call to the Future
Dr. Rau’s vision is ever-evolving. He continues to innovate, exploring new therapies and hosting seminars to educate the next generation of Biological Medicine practitioners. His work reminds us that the future of medicine lies not solely in technology but in the intelligent integration of science, intuition, and respect for the body's innate wisdom.

Reflecting on my journey with Dr. Rau fills me with gratitude and purpose. His teachings have equipped me to build a practice rooted in integrity and excellence. When patients ask me, "If you had a disease and couldn't find answers, where would you go?" my answer is unwavering: "I would join the thousands of patients Dr. Rau has guided to health at his healing center in Switzerland."

Conclusion
Dr. Thomas Rau is not just a pioneer in medicine; he is a visionary shaping a new paradigm of care. His legacy lies not only in the patients he has healed but in the countless practitioners he has empowered to think differently about health and disease. Biological Medicine is more than a specialty—it is a movement, one that challenges us to honor the innate wisdom of the human body and the healing power of nature.

Part 2: HealthTech Journal
Dr. Thomas Rau Mentorship + the PAPIMI PEMF

By: Leslie Valle-Montoya

I recently returned from an enriching 8-day seminar in Schwellbrunn, Switzerland, held by Swiss Biological Medicine expert, Dr. Thomas Rau (L). This international seminar brought together 30 colleagues from 11 countries, with half the attendees being Biological Dentists, creating a vibrant, interdisciplinary learning environment.

The seminar covered a comprehensive range of techniques and insights into Bioenergetic treatments, identifying Root Causes of illness, IV infusions, Biological Dentistry, and Darkfield microscopy. One of the highlights was my introduction to a new device, the PAPIMI PEMF (R), which is unlike typical PEMF devices due to its use of low Tesla and high induction technology. This ion induction therapy works on the cell membrane potential for optimal cell metabolism.  I’m excited to bring this innovative tool into my practice in the coming year, as I deepen my approach to addressing root causes in patient care.

A healthy cell needs sufficient cell membrane voltage (approximately -70mV to -90mV) to maintain its regulatory processes. All illnesses and injuries have one thing in common: cells begin to lose cell membrane potential (energy). This is why I include pulsed electromagnetic field therapy for all my patients, as it enables the cell to resume regulatory processes, exchange trace elements, and produce essential energy molecules.

One crucial point we addressed in healing was the significance of silent infections in the dental field. I am trained to assess and address dental health as it can be a root cause of illness and dysregulation. This is critical! Among my colleagues in Biological Medicine, we found that over 90% of breast cancer patients—and many other cancer diagnoses—have either dental toxicity or old root canals as part of the "root cause" of illness, often without any dental symptoms. As long as dental disturbances are not resolved, the risk of cancer recurrence is significantly higher.

I wanted to share a few topics and techniques I was exposed to while on my trip to Switzerland as I truly believe this is true medicine.  Finding the root cause rather than merely chasing symptoms is essential, as is the importance of preventative medicine; much inflammation can be asymptomatic for years before a diagnosis is received.

*Neural therapy is the treatment of pain and other illnesses by finding and treating disturbances in the body’s electrical system. These disturbances are called interference fields, which are a result of autonomic nervous system responses. Neural therapy involves the injection of a local anesthetic mixed with other ingredients into the interference fields. The theory behind neural therapy is that trauma can cause long-term disruption of the electrochemical function of cells and tissue, resulting in dysfunction, and the goals are to correct the interference and facilitate healing.

TECHREVIEW: EXPLORING THE DERMASENSOR™

Until recently, the approach of identifying skin cancers was commonly a visual self-exam or a clinical exam conducted by a health care provider and/or a dermatologist. A skin biopsy is the only way to definitively diagnose skin cancer- where a small sample of the suspicious skin is removed and sent to a lab for examination (under a microscope) in search of cancer cells. DermaSensor™ was designed as a portable and fast-access noninvasive point-of-care assessment tool for primary care physicians to offer additional information about a lesion to aid in their consideration of a referral decision. By examining the difference in light scattering, DermaSensor™ determines if the skin lesion suggests to “Investigate Further” or “Monitor” - as an immediate output. Elastic Scattering Spectroscopy (ESS) has been validated in 30+ publications on clinical studies. Many studies have shown ESS to provide information that is comparable to histopathologic assessment in the analysis of cellular microscopic structure. (see complete review)
